Working as a singer may sound like a simple job. But a lot of effort goes into rehearsing and performing a song well especially if you are the lead singer of the group. Besides just mastering a song, a singer may have to travel to perform in front of live audiences. Not just song choice, but the style in which the songs will be sung should be determined. Also, a lead singer has a lot of responsibilities. However, some of them are popular others are not. And some have just wasted their career besides of being famous.
Many lead singers who were known worldwide; some of them have ended their careers with death. Sometimes they commit suicide, overdose or murdered or from a severe illness.
Winston Ono Lennon. He was an English musician, singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a founder member and lead singer of the Beatles, the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed band in the history of popular music. With Paul McCartney, he formed a songwriting partnership that is one of the most celebrated of the 20th century. Unfortunately, during the height of his career, John Lennon was shot by a deranged fan in front of his apartment complex in New York. Lennon died of the age of 40 after receiving multiple gun shots in the back.
Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the hard-rock group Queen, died at the age of 45 at his home in Kensington here. He was 45 years old. He died of bronchopneumonia resulting from AIDS. As the lead singer and lyricist for Queen, Mr. Mercury helped to forge a hugely popular hybrid of hard-rock, pop, heavy-metal, cabaret and a hint of opera. In its mid-1970's heyday, the group created an image of playful decadence while fabricating elaborate studio productions on its albums, overdubbing multiple guitar and vocal lines. One of the Queen’s hit song that we can still hear playing on air and most often sung by most people is he song entitled, ""Bohemian Rhapsody,"
Nirvana is one of the most famous band in 1990’s, Kurt Donald Cobain was the lead singer of Nirvana, the multi-platinum grunge band that redefined the sound of the nineties. Smells Like Teen Spirit became Nirvana's most highly acclaimed and instantly recognizable song. It sold ten million copies and make a reported $550 million (US) leaving Nirvana overnight millionaires. However, on April 5, 1994, he was found dead. Cobain, 27, struggled with heroin addiction, illness and depression. He also had difficulty coping with his fame and public image, and the professional and lifelong personal pressures surrounding himself and his wife, musician Courtney Love. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle, the victim of what was officially ruled a suicide by a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.
Bradley James Nowell was an American musician who served as lead singer and guitarist of the ska punk band Sublime. He died at the age of 28 from a heroin overdose shortly before the release of Sublime's self-titled major label debut. He died on May 25, 1996.
Mindy McCready was an American country lead singer who hit the charts in 1996 with Ten Thousand Angels. After an abusive relationship sent her ex-boyfriend to jail for attempted murder, McCready suffered an addiction to drugs and alcohol that spiraled out of control. After arrests for faux prescriptions and alleged identity theft, McCready did a stint on ""Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew"", but she continued to battle her addictions up to her death. One month after the alleged suicide of her boyfriend--and the father of her infant son--McCready shot herself on Febuary 17, 2013. She died at the age of 38.
It is tough to get to the top and be famous. You have to take care of your popularity and the career that brings you there. Treasure and appreciate the talent that you have.
